Green Marketing

Green marketing is a term which refers to a particular marketing strategy, process or set of practices that promotes environmentally friendly or sustainable products and services. Green marketing typically focuses on reducing the marketing department’s impact by using methods that minimize the use of resources like cardboard, plastic and paper while promoting environmentally sound practices such as recycling. It can also be known as eco-friendly or green advertising.

In the 1970s, when plastic was first used in a major way, there was much talk that if left unchecked this material would eventually poison us all; Fortunately there are many new plastics coming out, requiring less energy and therefore less pollution, so environmentally friendly plastic is definitely here to stay.

Many companies now have green marketing programs to help them reach their environmental goals and these practices are not only limited to traditional marketing as practices, products and services can all connect with customers and communities in an ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Green marketing can be a challenge at times, but it can also be very rewarding. Companies that incorporate green marketing strategies are finding they are getting a new market share and new market opportunities in the current marketplace.
