Tech Tip – Cloud Download PC Reset

If you are using Windows 10 and you need to do a clean install on a PC/reset a PC, Microsoft’s ‘Cloud Download’ feature as part of the new Windows update makes it easy.

This feature means that there is no need to gather files from the computer’s local storage or to create installation media. Instead, Windows 10 can now download the latest Windows installation files from Microsoft’s servers.  Here is how it works:

– Go to Settings.

– Go to Update & Security > Recovery and under Reset This PC click “Get Started”.

– Choose “Cloud Download” to download.

Provided that the connection is good in the recovery environment, this also means that the “Reset This PC” feature should be able to download new files from Microsoft and reinstall Windows, even if Windows is corrupted and can’t boot.
